Urokodaki is as caring as he is stern however. Through Urokodaki’s tough and ruthless training, Tanjiro and Giyu have become incredible water breathing swordsmen. Giyu Tomioka is the current water hashira and was also the student of Urokodaki. Urokodaki has not only proved himself as a great warrior, but also a good teacher. The title of hashira, being the highest ranking members of the Demon Slaying Corps, shows how strong and formidable Urokodaki is. Not only has Urokodaki trained several demon slayers, but Tanjiro later in his journey learns that his trainer was a former water pillar or water hashira. Sakonji Urokodaki is a master swordsman of water breathing. After an incident that killed off most of Tanjiro’s family, Tanjiro is sent to train with Sakonji Urokodaki in the way of the sword in order to protect himself and his demon sister. Before becoming a swordsman, Tanjiro was a simple charcoal seller. It is always interesting when you learn your master is a bigger deal than you know.
